Would you like to dine at the Cenacolo?

Make a note in your diary for the end of May: these are unmissable evenings where haute cuisine, art and music come together in a single narrative. The Deluxu.it editorial team highly recommends it. The Renaissance genius Leonardo da Vinci, grand master of feasts and banquets at the Sforza court, reappears amidst glamour and wonder on 26, 27, 28 and 29 May 2026 in Milan, within the monumental complex of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where something truly rare comes to life. As the sun sets, the historic museum space hosts ‘La Cena al Cenacolo’. The event is curated by Tavolo Unico, the fine-dining restaurant in Busto Arsizio, led by Italian chef Massimiliano Babila Cagelli, a former swimming champion. A surprising encounter between sublime art, elite music and gastronomic excellence in one of the most iconic sites of the world’s artistic heritage. The chef has created an exclusive seated dinner, reinterpreting recipes drawn from Leonardo da Vinci’s “Cooking Notes”, collected in the Romanoff Codex, where, alongside 16th-century recipes, ideas and creations attributed to the Tuscan genius emerge. The evenings are enriched by exclusive concerts featuring internationally renowned musicians, including a first violinist from La Scala, and guided tours of da Vinci’s masterpiece:  Christ’s Last Supper. “A dish can evoke eras, places and stories, just as it does in the arts. In this extraordinary setting, inspired by Leonardo’s genius and the spirit of the Renaissance, we want to offer our guests not just a dinner but an immersive experience that leaves a lasting impression, in which every element contributes to celebrating the beauty and depth of Italian culture,” says the chef. The evening will begin at 7 pm in the Bramante Sacristy, an architectural masterpiece of the Renaissance, with an evocative chamber music concert. In this venue, normally reserved solely for sacred music, the sound of the instruments interacts with the architecture, creating a unique atmosphere. On the first and third evenings, a number of talented young performers from the Italian music scene will take to the stage. At the end of the concert, guests, accompanied by professional guides, will take part in a private tour of the monumental complex. The tour passes through five iconic locations: the Bramante Sacristy, Bramante’s Cloister of the Frogs, the Basilica, the antechamber and, finally, the much-anticipated Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, where the masterwork is revealed in a setting of pure contemplation. The journey continues in the complex’s cloister, where dinner takes place in a dialogue between memory and the contemporary.
Here is a preview of the exquisite menu: the starter features caviar on cauliflower panna cotta, yuzu caramel and rocket shoots, followed by Gaudio’s smoked soup. For the first course, Spaghetti alla milanese gives way to sturgeon on a bed of liquid lettuce. To finish, the dome of Tuscan cream, dark chocolate, plum crumble and pine nuts offers a sweet and indulgent finale. At the end of the evening, guests are presented with a commemorative book created for the occasion, as a memento of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Price: €390 per guest.
