Toulouse by bike
With more than 800 kilometres of cycle paths, Toulouse, the capital of Occitania, nicknamed the “Ville rose” due to the characteristic colour of its buildings, is a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts. On 16 July 2025, the city will take centre stage on the international sporting scene by hosting the 11th stage of the Tour de France, the legendary Grande Boucle after the stage in the 2019 edition. For lovers of the history of cycling, a visit not to be missed is the Paul-Dupuy Museum (located in the centre, it collects works from the Middle Ages to 1939), which from 8 July to 31 August 2025 hosts an exhibition dedicated to the universe of two wheels with also an exclusive collection of advertising posters made between 1890 and 1930.
"Toulouse is a green and welcoming city: with the numerous rental services, it's easy to get in the saddle and let yourself be guided to the discovery of its 170 city parks: perfect for pedalling in peace, relaxing in the shade of the trees or indulging in a picnic", explains a release. "Don't miss the Jardin des Plantes, with more than 100 botanical species, and the Japanese Garden where you can breathe in Zen and exotic atmospheres. For those who prefer alternative modes of transport, Toulouse offers the electric Tuk-tuk and the little tourist train, ideal for discovering the alleys of the historic centre by following thematic routes. Or you can opt for the Citytour Toulouse, with panoramic minibuses that cross the city in 12 stages, offering fascinating views and stories". For those who enjoy a river cruise, the Bateaux Toulousains boats are available to end the day with a touch of romance. More information www.toulouse-tourisme.com/en
