Record ice in St. Moritz

In the Swiss town of St. Moritz, one of the most prestigious automobile events in the classic four-wheel world, The I.C.E St. Moritz: international competition for automotive elegance, takes place every year since 2019 in February. The edition of this year has seen an increase in spectators, about 20 thousand presences in the weekend between fans and curious. After a 2024 without a real show (only jury) because of the sudden snowfall that did not allow the regular event on the lake, from 21 to 22 February 2025 was regularly held the luxury competition, won this year by the Bugatti 59, car to discovered wheels of 1934 in perfect conditions both mechanical and aesthetic despite the age almost centenary.
St Moritz is the place par excellence where luxury takes care of every single detail and forms the DNA of the city both in winter and summer, thus an iconic oasis with a timeless spirit where joie de vivre and unique style are the order of the day.
The I.C.E, not a simple exhibition in a pavilion but a real circuit born on the ice of the homonymous lake where the cars parade in front of the public and the jury that must define the "best in class" and the "best in show" respectively the best cars in each category and the absolute best.
This year’s trophy is a tribute to history and was designed by the architect Lord Norman Foster who, among other things, created the Apple Park in Cupertino, California (headquarters of the important American computer company Apple).
The watchword is extreme luxury and the vintage car represents the emblem of this event in which participate unique cars in their kind with distinct design, engines and prices but all with the same soul of the last century and with values exceeding one million francs. The goal of all drivers is to win the competition, showing the world what is really the vintage car par excellence, and the parade of cars on the lake allows you to show every detail and detail. 
The best cars by category were awarded on Friday, 21 February 2025. The Maranello brand stands out with its Ferrari 500 TRC Scaglietti (1957) and 275 GTB/4 (1966), respectively winning the Barchettas on the Lake award and the Icons on wheels. Other important prizes are the Concept cars and One offs won by the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Aprile (1931). Also among the historic racing cars there are those who have benefited from recognition, is the case of the Porsche 908/03 (1971) that wins the Racing Legends. The last of the 5 prizes per category is that of the Open Wheels, obtained by the Bugatti 59 which also wins the competition on the afternoon of Saturday 22, Winning officially the cup of the famous architect and becoming the fifth car to climb on the highest step of the podium of The I.C.E (excluding the years 2020 and 2021 cause Covid). In addition to the classic trophies by category and the overall winner’s prize, this year there is also a cup defined as The Spirit of St. Moritz Award, recognition designed by Rolf Sachs (son of Grunter Sachs, photographer and entrepreneur Swiss/ German) that wants to remember the style, heritage and luxurious signature of the Swiss town nicknamed Top of the World because of its characteristics. In addition to the level of events hosted, the Grisons country is indeed a real jewel of luxury environment and this can be seen already from a simple parking that in this place becomes a real museum, as well as the mountain roads or a simple walk on the lakefront.
The lake event not only brings a competition of elegance but also a range of winter sports, a dining area of great class for those who have a VIP ticket and a real show in the sky between hot air balloons and vintage aircraft. In addition to the typical slopes of the ski area that dominate the peaks of the Engadine, the event was present an area for skating on the frozen lake and one dedicated to the game of curling, a typical ice sport similar to bowling. All this accompanied by the stands dedicated to partners and exhibitors such as the Maserati that exhibited the MC20 Gt2 and the GranCabrio with the possibility of the public to climb up and taste for a few moments the Italian style of these cars. The most important sponsor remains the brand Richard Mille, but among the partners there are names like Loro Piana, UBS, Vista Jet and Pagani Automobili. There is also a Lounge for riders with a high-level restaurant and an outdoor area where waiters have been able to show their ice skating skills by giving spectacle to the owners of vintage vehicles.
